A commitment to research

Since 2005, Total and its foundation, together with the Institut Pasteur, have made a commitment to fight infectious diseases affecting the world's most vulnerable people, and especially children, in countries with limited resources. AIDS, hepatitis, acute diarrhoea, meningitis, etc.

The funding provided by the Fondation Total contributes to the development of research programmes and training for caregivers. The aim is to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. The action continues on the ground, where the foundation helps local people care for the sick.
Over the last 10 years, 11 research units have been assisted in Paris, and 20 local programmes have been implemented in Africa and Asia.

This partnership, renewed for another 3 years on 26 January 2015, will help lead ambitious research and public health programmes, in order to generate a better understanding of children's reactions to vaccines and therapies.
